Bio
Mars (he/they) is an emerging writer, director, multi-hyphenate, and Philly native who seeks to center the inherent humanity of art. With experience spanning theater, film, music, writing, new media, and community engagement, he brings a varied toolkit and unmatched enthusiasm for experimentation to each field. They love to make genre-defying work that brings together communities from diverse backgrounds behind the scenes and in the audience, with a particular focus on queer and trans experience and expression. Accessibility and education are cornerstones of his personal and professional practice.
A recent graduate summa cum laude of the University of Pennsylvania Cinema and Media Studies Program, Mars received the Best Creative Thesis Award (2023) for their video installation, The Fool's Journey. The installation went on to be screened at the CEE Carnival "Lucid Dreams/Surreal Screens" at the Penn Museum and the UPenn GSWS 2023 Showcase "Memory Screens". Other creative highlights include Music Directing Chicago for Quadramics Theatre Company, Co-Directing Opus Siniestrus at the ICA, and Videography for the Pennsylvania Players' digital production of Tuck Everlasting.
